Cranes Roost Date Night

So Friday night could not have come quick enough ( am I right?) Ervin and I had only planned to do something simple and relaxing tonight. We had just figured out our plans just hours before, but I was definitely ready to put those plans in motion.

We decided to have dinner at home. ( BIG side note: we’re saving up to lease a house so pennies are being pinched!) after the delicious dinner of chicken and a baked potato we headed out to Cafe Murano.

While this is an older crowd all the time there is some sprinkling of younger folk here. They have AWESOME drinks! The food is really good too, but those bartenders have some heavy hands. 🙂

We cheers’d to the night as we celebrated our 51st date. Yes we’ve been counting the whole time, and we’ve been official for almost a year. So it’s pretty exciting and we’re trying to keep on track of one official date per week. We’ve done well so far!!

After we had our drinks we headed across the street to Cranes Roost at Eddie Rose Amphitheater. This is where they have the Friday Night Live events. It was a delightful jazz band this week and they played some wonderful “old school” jams.

We enjoyed the beautiful cooler weather (YAY fall is here!). We talked some more and people watched and listen to some great tunes. It was one of the most relaxing dates of all time.

Cranes Roost is a beautiful park and everyone should really take advantage of all of the free activities they have planned throughout the year.

Let’s Get Physical!

I asked Ervin to make a workout for me that focused on my lats and side body. He sat down and thought for a bit and came up with this workout. Fortunately, we are familiar with the gym we go to, so we knew they had this equipment available.

*My suggestion about new workouts is to make sure you have an idea of the equipment available for use. If all the sudden a piece isn’t available, think about the skill you are doing and try to come up with a back up plan rather than skip it all together.*

We started with a warm-up on the elliptical, making sure to get our entire body “warm” for the workout.

IMG_1673[1]We did three sets of exercises that were super-set. Super-set is when you finish one exercise and immediately move on the to the next, with no rest. I love super-setting because it works cardio a bit to. Pushes you to the limit!

Our first pair of exercises was battling ropes and shoulder press. Each round at battling ropes we switched the skill/technique. The shoulder press we did worked on range of motion, and at the top the weights “kissed” to complete each rep.

The second pair of exercises was medicine ball throw downs and kettle bell swings. These require a rhythm, so I suggest doing a few reps, and then starting to count a set. No worries if you do a few more reps than you need to. It won’t be a bad thing. 😉

The third and final set was upright rows super-set with torso twists. After each torso twist, complete a set of upright rows, alternating your grip each set. Two sets should be close grip, and two sets should be wide grip.

We finished up with abs….my least favorite.

After a complete weight/strength training workout, we hit the stairmaster to sweat some more.

I really enjoyed this workout and look forward to tweaking it and making it better for the next time. 🙂

Girls’ Day with My Sister!

I am so happy that my sister is in town. It’s sad that she just got here, and there’s already a countdown to when she leaves. With that, she’s got a lot of stuff to get done, and I’m helping her tackle the giant list.

Today was brunch at a new place and hair appointments!

We first started at Keke’s Breakfast Cafe. It’s fairly new (to us… we haven’t been in Altamonte for some years). So anyway – she got a look at the menu and quickly decided on the pancakes and eggs.

These pancakes were bigger than Liz’s face!!

I decided on the scrambler – and I made it greek style with tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and feta cheese.

Deliciousness!!

So after Brunch we went to get our hair done with one of my BFF’s from high school Christina a.k.a. Duba.

First up – Liz. I told her she’s got a great natural ombre going on. 🙂

She got a treatment and had to let it set in for a bit.

Next, meeeeeeeeeeee. Getting rid of my ombre too! 🙂 I had mine done actually. I wanted to get rid of it because it’s so much easier to maintain one color, and I don’t feel forced to always do my hair. Ombre’s look weird if you don’t style your hair.

 Time to dye it up!!!

So the chopping began… and didn’t stop for a while.:( It looked like there was a small dog on the floor. End result – totally worth it.

Ta-daaaaaaaaaa!
